Chris Wyles, DTH van der Merwe in Championships

Wyle, van der Merwe spark their respective clubs’ championships
USA Eagles and Saracens three-quarters Chris Wyles, and Canada and Glasgow Warriors flyer DTH van der Merwe each grounded for their XVs as Sarries won the Premiership title while Gleska’ were victorious for the Guinness Pro12 crown on Saturday last.
Van der Merwe, in his swan song for the 2015 Pro12 champs as he’ll be sporting an Ospreys shirt next season, scored his try in the 25th minute of the match and its conversion by the Warriors standoff Finn Russell put the Scots ahead for good at 14-3 en route to a 31-13 victory.
Meanwhile the versatile Wyles, who covers pretty much any three-quarter position with comprehension, dotted down in the latter stages of the first forty and his try, along with flyhalf Owen Farrell’s completion, made it 22-3, a scoreline from which Bath were unable to recover as they fell to 16-28 defeat. Mr. Farrell accounted for 18 points in all, though his combo- (with tighthead Mako Vunipola) tackle on Bath fullback Anthony Watson in the second minute was seen by some as a citable offense.

the infinite connection

The last time we saw Chris Wyles on Colorado turf was in the Kettle for USA Eagles as Wyles contributed to the Eagles Test victory over Georgia three years ago, while van der Merwe was electric in Canada’s win over France in the 2010 Churchill Cup pool rounds on the Canada Rugby squad coached by the inimitable and inspirational former New Zealand All Black, Kieran Crowley.
