PRO Rugby Denver - Opening Day, Sunday April 17 at Infinity

Professional Rugby in Denver prepares for Opening Day
The long-awaited inaugural fixture and first kick in North American professional rugby is rapidly approaching. Sunday, April 17, 3pm at Infinity Park in Glendale… that information is what’s significant with the eyes of the nation, indeed the world, on Denver v Columbus in the hallmark contest that celebrates the beginning of the professional era on this continent.
Our home XV is administered by an impeccably-credentialed staff with a decidedly rich international flavor well-suited to guide PRO Denver Rugby through its first season:
·         Head Coach Sean O’Leary – a native of Ireland, O’Leary was formerly head coach at Northeastern University and also  Notre Dame;
·         Forwards Coach Peter Borlase – New Zealand born, Borlase played professionally at Crusaders and Munster, he was head coach of Gernika RT - a Spanish club in the Basque Region - and also Denver Barbarians;
·         Technical Consultant Andre Snyman – hails from New Castle, South Africa, played in the centers for Springboks, coach of Pacific Rugby Premiership’s reigning (and current frontrunning) champions Glendale Raptors;
·         General Manager Kieran Browner comes to PRO Rugby from the region where rugby was first played in the United Kingdom via Vail RFC. Kieran coaches Glendale Raptors forwards and specializes in community outreach, having conducting skills clinics for clubs in the Summer Mountain 15s League.
PRO Rugby Denver's forwards coach, Peter Borlase, puts the pack through paces at Infinity's Hi-Altitude Rugby Training Center
PRO Rugby Denver’s open practice schedule for the upcoming week, April 4-8:
o   Training on the turf, 10am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday;
o   Training on the turf, 5-7pm Monday, 1:30pm Thursday;

GM Browner may be contacted at 970.389.1051, and/or should a youth coach or administrator wish to set up a team visit to a PRO Rugby Denver session.

PRO Rugby Denver’s roster is thick with local and regional talent. USA Eagles hooker Zach Fenoglio fronts a flight of Raptors that includes industrious back row, Luke White, Eagles Niku Kruger and Chad London, and the Pauga brothers. Denver Barbarians, Ata Malifa, Bobby Impson and Michael Al-Jiboori add spice and speed to the three-quartersline, while Kansas City Blues breakaway Gannon Moore bolsters the backrow, and the Blues Brodie Orth is for the engine room.

International players with impressive cvs and priceless experience will be onhand in the form of South African Pedrie Wannenburg, who plays on the side of the scrum. Wannenburg has played for the Irish Province, Ulster, and Castres and Oyonnax in the Orange Top 14. The flanker also is possessed of 20 Springboks caps. PRO Rugby Denver’s backline will benefit from veteran, dual code Australian international (union and league), Timana Tahu, who plays in the centers, though the former Super Rugby Waratahs star can be relied upon to cover #s 10-15.

It’ll be All-on, All-in come the 17th of April at Infinity as everyone in attendance will be able to view rugby history as it unfolds. ticket link
