USA Men's Collegiate All-Americans Australia Tour

USA   Rugby D1-A National champion for Life University Running Eagles, Cody Melphy, is making waves with Men’s Collegiate All-Americans on the other side of the Pacific Ocean while on whirlwind, 8-day, 3-match tour of Queensland, Australia.

Our boys hit the ground hard and fast as the tour itinerary allowed no training camp for the 29-player squad. Melphy was instrumental in the All-Americans initial victory from the first five-eighths (inside center) slot in their 31-17 win over the Darling Downs Selects – Darling Downs being a pastoral region on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in Southern Queensland – in the match played in Toowoomba, some 80 miles west of Brisbane.

Melphy is no stranger to rugby in the Land Down Under as he toured Australia’s eastern Central Coast with the Stars Select Side at the Central Coast 7s in 2014. “Everything about my first tour here was amazing. This time around I feel much more comfortable and ready to push myself to the next level and compete with the best. I'm looking to put my hand up and crack my way into an Eagles jersey,” states the up-and-comer, now well-established on USA Rugby’s national selection radar.

The former Rugby Colorado standout with Littleton Eagles is intent on making the most of his opportunity, “… being really focused on doing all the simple things to the best of my ability and improving daily,” is Cody’s plan with the, “highest priority being excelling at the second playmaker, and putting my teammates away into space and wreaking havoc every time I touch the ball.” Mr. Melphy is absolutely on target!
