Six Nations Round 2 Preview: Italy v Wales

Six Nations Preview Italy v Wales at Stadio Olimpico, Rome

For the home XV Treviso front row Nicola Quaglio will start at loosehead in the only change for the Azzurri forwards. Anything at all from the forwards must include Italian talisman, Sergio Parisse, from the scrum lockdown. Guglielmo Palazzani, a late replacement for Tito Tebaldi at warm-ups of the Scotland match, stays in the 9 position, while last weekend’s 13, Luca Morisi, moves one slot to 12 and Wasps center, Michele Campagnaro, moves from the wing to 13; that could very well open up the action in the midfield for Italy.

For guests, two-thirds of the starters - 10 -  (and better than 50% of the gameday roster - 12) will be changed from last week’s lineup; wholesale, one could say: Warren Gatland’s blooding the young troops with 23-years old James Beard getting his second cap at lock and 21 years old blindside Aaron Wainwright getting his first start. In the three-quartersline, Aled Davies steps up in place of Tomos Williams at 9 and Dan Biggar takes the 10 shirt from Gareth Anscombe who’ll come off the bench. 22 years old Owen Watkin replaces Hadleigh Parkes at 12 and is paired with veteran Jonathan Davies in the centers. George North is rested with Jonah Holmes spelling him on the wing.

Weather conditions are pretty much perfect at Stadio Olimpico, in the 50s with little wind. Lotta points in this one.
