Top 14 - Round 6 - WRap

Top 14 WRap

Home Happy: Brive, Castres, Clermont, Lyon, Toulon
Road Warriors: Bayonne, Racing 92

Lyon maintained topspot, but only just, eking the squeaker in a thriller between numbers 1 & 2 on the table in Stade de Gerland.
On the Weekend, By the Numbers

10           the midpoint advantage, 20 - 10, for undefeated Lyon, nearly squandered as the faithful at Stade Gerland saw their XV hold out Bordeaux Bégles at the death for 23 - 20 significance; a brace of groundings from Lyon 15, Jean Buttin, and a yellow for the fullback as well, while travelers 10, Ben Botica, counted 13 on 2-and-3 off the tee;

29           first forty points sufficient the task, but only just, of securing the happy for Bayonne as one of this year’s promotees continues to impress with 29  - 27 traveling success at Agen; visitors are now in show position on the chart after a pair of away victories has paved the way for their early spatial joy; brace for traveling 12, Peyo Muscarditz, by minute 30 fueled the opening Bayonne surge;

2              trys for other-promotee, Brive scrumhalf, Julien Blanc, and 13 for 15, Thomas Laranjeira, on 2-and-3 from tee as reigning champs, Toulouse, are currently in relegation position in the French fracas after homeys got the important win, 23 - 9, at Stade Amédée Domenech;  to say the champs miss their starting 9-10, Antoine Dupont-Romi Ntamack, their 15, Max Medard, as well as 3 others serving international duty in Japan is making little of large;

21           for Castres 10, Julien Dumora, on a triple of 2-4-1 as the home side ripped Stade Français at Pierre Fabre, 46 - 16; the visiting Parisians were ahead twice by 3: 3-0 and 6-3, on sticksplitters by traveling 10, Morne Steyn - who finished with 11 on 1-and-3 from his tee - before the home team took control after a grounding by 13, Thomas Combezou, in the 27th;

10           for Clermont 10, Jake McIntyre, on 2-and-2 from his shoe and home squad continued the road woes for Montpellier with a 20 - 13 victory in the Marcel Michelin;

2              trys too for the why-isn’t-he-in-Japan with a Puma shirt, Racing flyer, Juan Imhoff, as 92 ripped Pau for 25 in the second stanza with no reply from homeboys and travelers got a much-needed, 5-point road win, 31 - 3, at Stade du Hameau;

13           for Toulon 10, Adrienne Belleau, on 2-and-3 off the tee and the flyhalf guided his XV to a 23-3 win over visiting La Rochelle in the Felix Mayol; the happy provides space from the base of the chart for Toulon while putting La Rochelais way low towards the bottom;
